I don’t usually go out for fancy drinks, but tonight’s one of those nights. Yay for Margarita Day! Apparently, it’s actually a real holiday and I’ve been seeing it all over the Internet. No idea who made declared it such, but I’m not complaining. 🙂
My margarita from last time!
I’m the driver tonight so I only get one drink, but I’m still so excited to see my girlfriends. After being out with Paul and all of his friends on Friday, I’m in dire need of lady time. Anyone else having a margarita tonight?
Lunch
Lunch meal 1
This is one of the most random lunch bowls ever. In the mix are black beans, peas, orzo, spinach and feta. You know what? It was actually really tasty. I need to incorporate more beans in my lunches. They fill me up.
Salad of the day
What would lunch be like without some veggies? Well, it just wouldn’t be my lunch! In the mix, I have tons of spinach, red bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, green olives, zucchini and parmesan cheese. I stick to feta usually, but the parmesan was pretty good too.

On the side, I had some string cheese and apple slices.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the earthquake that occurred yesterday in New Zealand. It was 6.5 and has killed at least 60 people. Earthquakes really freak me out because:
1. You can’t really predict them
2. They can do a ton of damage, kill thousands and cause tsunamis
3. I’ve already experience one, and it was a 6.4.

I was with my immediate family on the island of Lefkada in Greece. We were all forced to sleep in one room, with my brother pretty much sleeping on the dresser since there was no room. Now I’m thankful we were all together.
The weird thing was that I woke up a couple minutes before the quake. I remember when it started how scared we all were. I was only 14 at the time, but immediately, I knew what was going on. I think we all did. Rather than still in the room, as we saw the walls starting to crack we took off and ran outside the hotel room and down the stairs. It seemed like forever, but I think the earthquake only lasted 30 seconds.
After it ended, we had a ton of aftershocks, which were just as scary. My dad decided we needed to get off this island as soon as possible, so we packed up all of our stuff, and drove to the nearest port. We ended up seeing huge boulder in the street on the way there, and huge cracks in the streets. A couple hours later, we were off Lefkada, but the memory of that earthquake sticks with me.

I have been hearing about Margarita Monday all over too, I guess its official! Unfortunately I wont be partaking, I have to prepare a presentation for one of my classes! Ugh. So cal has had some huge earthquakes and the last big one was when I was about 4 years old..it was so scary but luckily we were all safe. So glad you were safe during the earthquake you were in as well!

Holy Moly! I’m glad you are okay. Earthquakes and tornados freak me out. I have been in a couple tornados randomly and never been more scared in my life. Hurricanes don’t scare me too much though.

Margarita day!?! How fun!! I love virgin drinks (gotta stay legal!), especially on the beach- I feel all tropical and festive! hah! Your lunches always look right up my alley have you ever tried goat cheese? well I’m sure you have, but I eat goat and feta interchangeably..so good!
What a horrible earthquake! All we get here are pretty much hurricanes but they can get kinda nasty. And that Margarita looks insanely delicious and huge! I wanna celebrate margarita day 😦 It’s too late now lol
I was in the midst of a typhoon in Fiji-nothing bad tho it was an aftermath of it, but cool to say it!

I can’t say that I remember being in an earthquake, but my mom told me that I experienced them when I was a little girl — like regularly.
It’s awful what’s going in New Zealand! I wish there were more coverage of it because it’s such a hard situation for the country. I’ve slept through two medium-sized earthquakes – one in Champaign and one in Rome.
And yay for veggies in the lunch! I love to throw black beans into soups – maybe with corn, peppers, tomato and tortilla strips.

One, I am so pissed I missed Margarita Day! I love margaritas soooo much.
Two, I’ve never been in an earthquake (or they say I have here in Africa, but I didn’t feel anything…) but I have been through a few hurricanes. I was also in Hawaii last year when there was supposed to a tsunami due to the earthquake in Chile. Those didn’t bother me so much, but the thought of a blizzard or a tornado… Scares the crap out of me, haha.
I really feel for those people in New Zealand. It’s awful. And the floods in Australia too. In the UK we don’t really get major earth quakes just baby ones that I tend to always sleep through!
Earthquakes are SO scary! I have been in a couple of hurricanes and while they are scary at least we knew they were coming…

Wow—on the earthquake thing. I’ve been in one earthquake at home, but it was tiny. So no natural disasters for me so far.
I like black beans warmed up with a little lime juiced squeezed on them and some sea salt…then I dump them on a salad.
Oh my, that is crazy! I was in a tornado when I was 5. It was the biggest tornado to ever hit Oklahoma. We hid under the stairs with lots of blankets and pillows. The noise from it was so loud and there was lots of crashing and banging as the tornado swirled around knocking down houses and trees. Luckily our house was safe, but my dad’s car was completely totaled and the houses behind us were completely obliterated!

Earthquakes are SO scary! Luckily I was never in one before. A good think about living in PA. I think we have had mild tornadoes, once or twice in my lifetime though. Def have had bad hurricanes but nothing compared to other parts of the world!
I love black beans and rice or I like to make a black bean puree and put it on my brown rice wraps!
I’ve never been in an earthquake before, but they’re scary! My friend lives in NZ and I was able to talk to her yesterday – the earthquake was really close to her apparently. I’m glad she’s okay!

Last summer I was in California for 10 days and experienced an earthquake there. It was really minor but the whole house shook and some glasses broke. I was nervous but at the time didn’t know what was going on. I can’t imagine experiencing a really bad one. I always keep people who suffer from natural disasters in my prayers and pray that I’m fortunate enough to not experience one.

Aww man i missed the margarita memo?!?! I was in a super tiny earthquake that was in Illinois but that is my only experience. It literally lasted 10seconds but I was so confused at what happened. Crazy scary and can’t imagine what those people must be going through.
holy man, that would’ve been terrifying!!! i’ve never been in an earthquake, but i am thinking of those people in NZ. actually i know quite a few people from there (duh, i live in Australia) and you’re right, it is horrible.
on a side note, i haven’t had tequila in years (bad memories…) and i hope to download ANTM. it’s totally my guilty pleasure. 😛
I was also in the 2003 Lefkas earthquake!
I was on holiday in Nidri at the time. That was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me – waking up to my bed shaking across the room. My hotel was on the sea-front so everyone slept on the beach for a couple of nights after, as the aftershocks were still pretty strong so didn’t want to risk it. Nobody knew much about tsunami’s back then so on reflection that may not have been the best idea!
